In all honestly the first time I listened to Back From The Goats I wanted to switch to something else before I had even come halfway. Too many slow parts, too many riffs I’ve heard before, boring vocals (not even the Brie can save you this time) and all in all way too little aggression to be a convincing grindcore band. Even if you call it goatgrind. Half the stuff on this record might be called grindcore, but the other half could just as well have been on the new Chimaira or Soulfly record or something. Not cool dudes!

 

I have to say that the more I listened to it, the less bad it became, but still it never got to a point where it was really enjoyable. The funny things they do on the album make it a little more bearable, but the jokes get old pretty fast. Especially the goat noises. Next to a nice production and a cool intermezzo every now and then (and a Nailbomb cover song, the Sacred Reich cover song is not that great), there is not much excitement on Back From The Goats. All in all I’d give the same advice as I did with the Anstalt Records sampler, you grinders just keep checking the underground for decent band and ignore this one. I for one will not shed a tear when they kill these goats in order to stop the Q-fever…
